Conservation status. Endangered [EN B1ab(i,ii,iii,iv)].

Morphology and biology. Cap semi-globose, conical then almost flat, 1–4 cm in diameter, olive yellow, brownish, olive brown, in old specimens yellowish; smooth, viscous. Gills notched, olive brown, with a whitish margin. Stipe cylindrical, curved, 5–10(12) × 0.2–0.5 cm, scaly fibrillose. Flesh thin, yellowish. Spores almond-shaped, 17–19(20) × 7–9 µm, smooth, dark brown. Fruit-bodies single and in small groups. VIII–X.

Habitats and populations. Among mosses (Sphagnum spp.) in peat-bogs and swamps.

Distribution in Bulgaria. Rhodopi Mts (Western – Longourli locality).

General distribution. Europe, North America.

Threats. Habitat loss/degradation caused by stock breeding, infrastructure development (tourism/recreation), fires, aridisation of climate.

Conservation measures taken. Included in the Red List of Fungi in Bulgaria. The locality is situated in a site of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Bulgaria.

Conservation measures needed. Study of the population numbers and range; better understanding of the species biology and ecology; conservation of the habitat; regular monitoring.
