Conservation status. Endangered [EN B2ab(i,ii,iv)].

Morphology and biology. Fruit-bodies annual, pileate, semi-globose, 4–9 × 2.5–4.5 × 1.5–4 cm; sterile surface hispid, glabrous, yellowish brown to rusty brown. Pore surface rusty yellowish to dark brown, pores 1–3 per mm, round at first, then angular; tube layer concolorous with the pore surface, up to 2.5 mm thick. Context hard when dry, rusty yellow. Hyphal system monomitic. Spores oval to ellipsoid, 7–9.5 × 5–7 µm, rusty brown, thin-walled. VII–X.

Habitats and populations. Parasite on tamarisks (Tamarix).

Distribution in Bulgaria. Black Sea Coast (Southern – Obzor, Nesebar, Pomorie, Sozopol, Primorsko), Rhodopi Mts (Eastern – Odrintsi).

General distribution. Europe.

Threats. Habitat loss/degradation caused by agriculture and infrastructure development (human settlement, tourism/recreation, etc.); soil pollution.

Conservation measures taken. Included in the Red List of Fungi in Bulgaria. Some localities are situated in sites of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Bulgaria.

Conservation measures needed. Study of the population numbers and range; interpretation of species status through better understanding of the species biology and ecology; conservation of the habitat; study of the trends through monitoring.
