Conservation status. Endangered [EN B2ab(i,ii,iv)].

Morphology and biology. Cap at first conical, then umbonate to almost flat, 0.5–2(2.5) cm in diameter, creamy, light beige, grey brown, darker in the centre; velvet fibrillose, sometimes finely scaly. Gills notched, creamy. Stipe cylindrical, 1–4 × 0.1–0.3 cm, creamy, brownish at base, fibrillose. Flesh thin, creamy. Spores ellipsoid, 7–10(11) × 5–7.3 mm, colourless. Fruit-bodies in groups. V–X.

Habitats and populations. On plant debris in Mediterranean shrub vegetation and in grasslands. Up to date, only one locality has been established. In 1975, 2003, and 2004, several groups of 4–10 fruit-bodies were found in this locality.

Distribution in Bulgaria. Thracian Lowland (Laouta locality near Plovdiv).

General distribution. S Europe, N Africa

Threats. Habitat loss/degradation caused by farming, wood plantations, development of tourism/recreation infrastructure, fires, pollution.

Conservation measures taken. Included in the Red List of Fungi in Bulgaria.

Conservation measures needed. Study of the population numbers and range; better understanding of the species biology and ecology; conservation of the habitat; regular monitoring.
