Conservation status. Endangered [EN B2ab(i,ii,iv)].

Morphology and biology. Fruit-bodies perennial, resupinate, nodular, 1–4 cm thick; margin thin and rounded; context cream to straw colored. Pores angular, 1–3 mm wide, lacerate. Hyphal system dimitic. Cystidia numerous, clavate, 14–19 × 4.5–6 µm, yellowish, smooth. Basidia 17–22 × 5–6.5 µm; spores narrowly ellipsoid to subfusiform, with an evident apiculus, smooth, 6.5–8 × 2.5–3.5 µm, colourless.

Habitats and populations. On Grecian juniper (Juniperus excelsa).

Distribution in Bulgaria. Valley of Struma River (Kresna Defile, Tisata Strict Nature Reserve).

General distribution. Europe, Africa, North America.

Threats. Habitat loss/degradation caused by agriculture (wood plantations), extraction (selective logging), and fires.

Conservation measures taken. Included in the Red List of Fungi in Bulgaria. One of the known localities is situated in the Tisata Strict Nature Reserve. Both localities are situated in sites of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Bulgaria.

Conservation measures needed. Study of the population numbers and range; interpretation of species status through better understanding of the species biology and ecology; conservation of the habitat; study of the trends through monitoring.
